Walker’s Way Rescue Kitten Policy
At Walker’s Way Rescue, the health, safety, and lifelong well-being of our kittens are our highest priorities. The following policies are in place to ensure that every kitten leaves our care healthy, socialized, and prepared for their forever home.
Birth & Early Care
* Many kittens in our rescue are born in foster homes when a pregnant rescue mom comes into our care.
* Kittens remain with their mother and littermates until they are fully weaned, socialized, and medically ready for adoption.
Worming & Preventative Care
* Kittens begin a deworming protocol at 2 weeks of age.
* Deworming is repeated every 2 weeks until they leave our care.
Vaccinations & Veterinary Care
* At 8 weeks of age, kittens receive their first core FVRCP vaccine.
* At approximately 12–14 weeks of age, kittens receive:
* Second core FVRCP vaccine
* Rabies vaccine
* Spay/neuter surgery (timing depends on size/weight, typically between 3–4 months of age)
* Microchip implantation
* FeLV (Feline Leukemia) testing
Adoption Timing
* No kitten will be adopted out prior to their spay/neuter surgery.
* This means most kittens will be ready to go home around 3–4 months of age.
After Adoption – Ongoing Veterinary Care
* Adopters are responsible for ensuring their kitten receives the third FVRCP booster through their veterinarian.
* At that visit, adopters should also establish an ongoing relationship with their chosen veterinarian for routine care, wellness checks, and any future needs.
Our Commitment
* Walker’s Way Rescue kittens are raised with love, care, and proper veterinary oversight.
* By following these protocols, we give every kitten the healthiest possible start in life and prepare them for a safe and happy future with their adoptive family.
Kitten Adoption fee $275.00 (this is what it cost the rescue to insure your kitten is healthy and ready to go home)
